M: MTB Day 1

Today, Slug was formally introduced to MTB. He had the Trek Precalibre 20 for some months but there was no opportunity to bring him out to the trails until I had the Stumpy.

But today’s ride had a hidden agenda which was to bring him to view the large houses along 6th Avenue. Earlier this morning, he whined about reading Chinese and wanted something simpler. There’s no big house without corresponding dedication. This is the message that I wanted to drive in him.

We took the usual route to Baker and Cook Sunset and rode along the canal towards Greenleaf View playground.

Our route took us past Henry Park. It provided great directional perspective and very likely, something for him to talk about to Jariel, when he gets back to school on Friday.

Life lessons took 1 minute. The rest of the 2 hours were well spent on hitting the trails. We enter The Green Corridor through Bukit Sedap Road and cycled to the old Bukit Timah Railway Station. Stopping for an IG-worthy photo is a must. Oh mine, I have to say I look every bit the proud Dad. The highlight of this trail is the drop. Slug definitely had fun and his first taste of MTB here. It doesn’t look steep enough because of the camera angle but I had a heart stopping moment when I negotiated it myself.
