M: Walk to the car (Nagasaki)

Writer's picture: maademailsmaademails

Everyday, we walk the slopes from the Airbnb to the car. It's about a 10 minutes walk down. Part cobblestone, part regular tarmac and the rest just screed flooring. We stayed next to a cemetery and walk past it daily. It doesn't really give the creeps as in Japan, the living live with the dead. They can co-exist so nothing to fear, I tell myself when we walked back in the dead of the night. haha

The walk up can be daunting especially with whiny kids, more so with bottled water. But I come to know, the walk up really works the heart. The old folks walk as well, there are no grocery deliveries. They carry their load up the slopes and that must be their secret to living to a ripe old age.

Buildings here are old. It is great to take photos along the way to the carpark.
